BPEX Chief Executive Mick Sloyan said that business profitability is based on making the right decisions and they must be based on the right information.

"It is a unique source of data covering the whole production and marketing chain from on-farm costs to pork consumption trends. But above all it is a source of information, inspiration and contacts that can help the British pig industry progress along its Road to Recovery," he added.

The British pig must still focus on ireducing its costs and maximising the value of its products. BPEX believes the Pig Yearbook highlights ways in which this can be done.

The yearbook includes:

  • analysis of GB and European costings for pig production up to farmgate level, plus costings of our primary competitors in the international market;

  • national performance statistics from Pigplan/WinPig results;

  • key facts and figures covering the industry issues such as environment; - pigmeat market supply and demand trends, including market mapping and the key drivers;

  • an update on the British Pig Health Scheme and a worked example of how the BPHS can improve pig performance and profitability.
Copies of the publications are available from MLC Economics, priced £18 (non-UK £25) Tel. 01908 844396 or by email to [email protected].
