PIC renews Japanese contract and celebrates 25-year link
JAPAN - Genetics company PIC and Iwatani International Corporation (IIC) have signed a new agreement to continue their successful partnership in the Japanese market.
PIC and IIC subsidiary Iwatani Camborough Company (ICC) have developed specialized breeding males and females aligned to the requirements of the Japanese market which places a high premium on meat quality. Performance at farm level is also excellent with recent data from customer farms showing 28.37 pigs weaned per sow per year and 166 days to market at 103kg.
These factors, combined with new sales programs, are driving increasing demand for PIC breeding stock in Japan; sales volumes have grown by 17 per cent in the last 12 months. ICC expects to almost double its share of the market over the next five years.
It is also the 25th anniversary of co-operation between the PIC and ICC. To mark this memorable occasion, Philip Acton, COO of Genus Europe and Asia, traveled to Tokyo for a special ceremony where he was welcomed by Seiichi Mori, Senior Executive Director of IIC.
