EU pig prices: Balanced market – sinking slaughter weights
EU - This week, the European slaughter pig market turns out to be balanced for the most part.Unchanged quotations are reported from Denmark, Austria and Germany, while France quotes slightly increasing prices once again. However, prices in Spain and the Netherlands have fallen a little, and Belgian prices are visibly falling.
As a result of the weather still being bad in Northern and Central Europe, the European pig prices were obviously out distanced to some extent. Yet, few pigs being on offer at decreasing slaughter weights seem to be the usual business. Only France was in a position to take this into consideration for pricing.
From the Netherlands, news that exports toward Italy and England are down currently with the holiday season having started. A steady return is granted to pig prices this week by the prospect of improved weather and the fact that demand should be increasing at the beginning of August.
