Carty Meats to supply pork to SuperValu
IRELAND - Athlone company CartyMeats has won a €500,000 contract to supply rashers and bacon joints for use in the new SuperValu Supreme food range.Under the terms of the contract, agreed last year in preparation for the launch of the new range this summer, the deal is expected to generate sales of up to €600,000 in its first year.
Carty Meats will supply eight new SuperValu supreme bacon products, including eye loin of bacon in sweet acacia honey, dry cured cheese and crumb topped gammon, and smoked bacon loin with maple glaze.
"The range carries simple nutritional information on the front of packs, covering calorie, sugar, fat and salt content, with percentage amounts related to the guideline daily amounts from health authorities,"said Donal Horgan, managing director, Musgrave SuperValu-Centra (MSVC). "Other food products in the SuperValu Supreme range include premium fresh soups and salads, sausages, yogurt, fresh pasta, cheese and bakery products, all of which will have similar nutritional labelling."
