Print This Page EC bans pork export from Romania
EU - The European Commission imposed a ban on export of Romanian pork meat to EU member countries until December 31, 2009 because of the large number of swine fever cases registered in this country. |
The Commission said the situation with swine fever was very serious, especially in Romania, where outbreaks took place in the farms, whose meat production is intended for exports.
An EC report said that as many as 164 cases have been identified in individual farms in Romania in the first half of 2007, so the European Commission has decided to extend the restrictions which would have expired on September 30, 2007.
