Beijing Uses RFID to Track Quality Problems
CHINA - The largest pork trade platform opened in Bali Bridge produce wholesale market, Beijing, and begun its pilot operation yesterday.According to the officials, this is the first time Beijing has introduced RFID technology to create complete electronic document for pork trade. Using the system means that if there is any quality problem, it can be traced all the way back to slaughterhouse and terminal of sale.
"Each pig here have a electronic identification code," said an official of wholesale market.
The pork trade hall adopted RFID electronic automatic tally system and has eliminated the traditional manual processes of tally and inspection. Officials say that pork from designated suppliers is now documented electronically at casual inspection stages. After weighting, pork would be transferred to sales floor.
" We can handle 100 pigs in 30 minutes now," said a spokesman.
