Print This Page PRRS Now Effecting Four Provinces
VIET NAM - Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) has now struck in a forth province. It has been reported the the country's central Nghe An province - and is raising further concerns about the level of controls being put in place to halt the spread of infection.The disease is said to have effected 208 pigs in Dien Chau district, according to the local Veterinary Bureau. As a result, it has intensified surveillance on pig transport and disinfection programmes being carried out on farms. It hope these heightened procedures will help to prevent further spread of the disease.
PRRS has already been confirmed in northern Thanh Hoa province and the two central provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Nam,. The Department of Animal Health under the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development say it is taking the necessary steps to control the outbreak.
