Print This Page France Calls for End to Lower Quality Imports
FRANCE - In a memorandum to the European Union Farm Council, France is calling for an end to the distortion of competition that takes place when imports are allowed into Europe from countries with lower standards, according to the UK's National Pig Association.NPA says that France wants to see stricter import controls to ensure imports from third countries meet Europe’s animal welfare and animal feed standards.
It wants these issues to be covered off in bilateral trade agreements to ensure such restrictions are recognised as being a legitimate facet of international trade.
