New Boar Stud Planned by Hermitage in Ireland

IRELAND - Hermitage Genetics has received planning permission to build a new state-of-the-art 240-place boar stud in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Work on the project will begin shortly.

The company already has two high-health, EU-licensed AI Stations in Ireland and this new facility is being built to accommodate the increasing demand for Hermitage's maternal and terminal boar lines.

Hermitage operates its AI stations to the ISO9001 Quality Standard, which is a world recognised quality management system and an integral component of Hermitage's operations worldwide. Compliance with the ISO scheme demonstrates the company's commitment to the production of high quality products and services, thereby optimizing customer satisfaction and production efficiency. The entire system is independently audited on an annual basis and has been approved with the ISO9000/9001 Quality Standard for over 11 years.

Demand for Hermitage's high performing purebred great grandparent (GGP) and grandparent (GP) maternal line boars has been increasing rapidly as the number of customers using the Hermitage Closed Herd BLUP Programme continues to increase both domestically and internationally with exceptional on farm results from the Hermitage maternal lines. In addition, the introduction of the Hermitage MaxgroTM terminal boar has seen the demand for semen from this high performing terminal sire line soar rapidly as customers benefit from increased growth rate, feed conversion efficiency and carcass traits of the progeny.

Hermitage offer producers both fresh and frozen semen and export semen to many countries internationally on a weekly basis. Hermitage also operate high health boar studs in the UK, Germany and Italy, while also standing their AI boars at studs in Belgium, the Netherlands, USA, Greece, Spain, Russia and Mexico.
