'What We Know about Feeding Liquid By-products'

GERMANY - Dr Jerry Shurson of the University of Minnesota, USA, gave a lecture on the advantages and challenges of liquid feeding at Big Dutchman's 5th International Agents' Meeting in Bremen, Germany, in July 2008.

He focussed particularly on corn condensed distillers solubles and steep water both of which are liquid by-products from ethanol production.

Personal data:

Dr Shurson is a Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Minnesota, USA. He received his B.S. degree in Animal Sciences and Agricultural Economics at the University of Minnesota and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in swine nutrition from Michigan State University. During the past ten years, Dr Shurson’s research program has primarily focused on evaluating the nutritional value of distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) in swine diets.


450 representatives of Big Dutchman agencies and subsidiaries from more than 70 countries had come to Germany for an intensive exchange of information and ideas on the occasion of the 5th International Agents' Meeting.	Agents and speakers as well as part of the Big Dutchman staff who also participated in the conference used the various workshops and discussion groups for a worldwide exchange of information.
