Print This Page Russia to Increase Meat Output
RUSSIA - It is estimated that meat output will increase 550,000 tons by the end of 2009.On 8 May, Elena Skrynnik, the Agriculture Minister of Russia, said that there is a stable dynamics of growth in pork and poultry production sector in the Russian Federation. She was referring to data from the Livestock Farming Department.
Meat Russia reports that her words lend support to an estimated increase in domestic meat production of 550,000 tons by the end of the year.
The Russian Agriculture Ministry press release on 1 April 2009 said that pork production output from all farms grew by 8.2 per cent to 606,000 tons compared to the same period last year. Poultry production was up 12.4 per cent to 776,000 tons.
