Award Winning Green Feed Technology Debuts in US
GENERAL - Award winning Australian technology which produces nutritious green feed for livestock in just six days is making its debut in the United States.

Fodder Solutions creates growing chambers for farmers enabling them to transform grain seed and water into highly palatable feed harvested fresh daily, regardless of seasonal conditions.
According to the company, all classes of livestock can eat the densely matted sprouts including roots and all with no waste. Systems are being used to feed beef and dairy cattle, horses, sheep, goats, free range pigs and even rabbits.
Animals on a spout diet gain condition and are healthier, with enhanced breeding performance reported, claim Fodder Solutions.
Now the system is being introduced to the US market with a manufacturing facility established at Oxnard near Los Angeles in California.
A Fodder Solutions principle and co-inventor of the system Terry Colless oversaw the American market expansion with a launch and demonstration at the recent US Agricultural Media Summit in Fort Worth, Texas. The Summit was held in conjunction with the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists World Congress.
Colless says things have moved quickly since an overwhelming level of interest was received at the World Agricultural Expo in Tulare, California, in February.
“From the number of inquiries we received, there is no doubt US farmers will be extremely receptive to our system of growing low cost green feed using very little water,” Colless says.
“We will be manufacturing units in a range of sizes from 12 to 72 trays capable of producing 90lbs to 520lbs of sprouts daily."
In Australia the company has built a large scale demonstration unit called the Automatic Paddock which operates hydraulically and unloads more than three tonnes of feed a day at the touch of a button.
