ASF Case in Namibia On the Rise

NAMIBIA - The number of cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Namibia has risen to eighty-eight.
Follow-up Report No.2 was sent to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) yesterday, 19 October, by Namibian veterinary authorities.
A total of four outbreaks have been reported in the country, the cases coming up to eighty-eight. The outbreak is reported to have occured in swine herds. According to the report, the latest outbreak took place in the region of Omusati.
Some of the measures applied by the OIE to curb the spread of the disease in the country are:
- Stamping out
- Quarantine
- Movement control inside the country
- Disinfection of infected premises/establishment(s)
- No vaccination
- No treatment of affected animals
