New Outbreak of African Swine Fever in Russia
RUSSIA - A new outbreak of Africa Swine Fever (ASF) has been reported by Russian veterinary authorities to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
Follow-up Report No.5 was submitted to the OIE yesterday, 20 October.
According to laboratory reports, the ASF virus is at an advanced stage.
The report states that the virus was introduced from the South Federal district to the Northwest Federal district. In one of the holdings of the settlement Mga the pigs were sampled because of the African swine fever suspicion. The laboratory confirmed the diagnosis. An investigation for African swine fever in all the pigs of the private sector in the settlement Mga was implemented. Shooting and investigation of wild boars were also carried out within Kirovsky district. The result of the pathological material investigation was negative. The whole population of pigs in the holding was destroyed.
