Hermitage Appoints New General Manager in Germany
GERMANY - Hermitage Deutschland GmbH has appointed Dr Walter Vaitiekunas as its new General Manager, effective 1 January 2010.
After finishing his agricultural apprenticeship, Dr Vaitiekunas studied animal life science at the Agricultural faculty of the University of Göttingen and got his doctorate at the Institute of Animal Nutrition.

Dr Vaitiekunas has excellent experience of the German pig production sector, having previously managed several large German agribusiness companies.
He said: "I am very excited about the opportunity to develop the business for Hermitage in Germany, the products have already performed very successfully under German production systems and now I am looking forward to growing the business."
Hermitage Deutschland GmbH was established in 2003 and has high health multiplication units producing both purebred and hybrid gilts for the German market. In addition to breeding stock sales, Hermitage Deutschland GmbH also supply semen throughout Germany from their high health AI station in Golzow. The company specialises in 'Closed Herd BLUP Breeding Programmes', providing technical and genetic support to optimise herd performance and biosecurity. This new appointment reflects the importance given to the German market in the overall worldwide strategy of Hermitage.
