Print This Page Burrangong Meat Closes Plant
AUSTRALIA - The New South Wales town of Young is reeling from the news that Burrangong Meat Processors has closed its slaughterhouse there.The town of Young in south-west NSW is reeling following the shock closure of Burrangong Meat Processors, reports ABC.
The abattoir was Young's biggest employer. The company was placed into receivership late on 2 February, leaving up to 300 employees without jobs.
The company says the collapse is due to several factors, including a potential sale to a Chinese investor falling through.
The sudden closure of the plant sent shock waves through the town.
