Print This Page Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Reported in Russia
RUSSIA - A single outbreak of FMD has been reported in the south-east of the country.
The veterinary authority sent an Immediate Notification dated 6 September to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The report described a single outbreak of FMD on a farm in the village of Makarovo in the region of Zabaykal'skiy kray, which borders China and Mongolia.
In total, 63 out of the 95 cattle and one of 182 pigs showed symptoms of the disease from 26 August. The sheep flock appeared to be unaffected.
The cause has now been confirmed as FMD, the last case of which in the country was reported to be 20 August.
