The two year Federally-funded pig control program will set farmers up with infra-red cameras, traps and grain to catch the pests in the act, according to ABC.

Mike Leane, with the Hume Livestock Health and Pest Authority, says pigs are becoming a real concern.

"Like everything with a good season the pigs have increased yes," he said.

"We've had a lot more calls to the LHPA office.

"We estimate in the Adjungbilly area there is between 5 to 10,000 pigs in the area.

"Last year we probably took the cream off and we destroyed 500 in the area."

The Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority will co-ordinate the 'Outshine the Swine' project.

Snowy works and Services and the Bila Bunyips work team will provide trapping and baiting services to farmers in need of assistance.

Landholders will also be asked to map where pigs have been sited on their properties.
