RUSSIA - In connection with the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Ukraine, the Russian veterinary service has strengthened the control over the transportation of controlled products, mainly meats, including hand baggage and luggage of passengers in the Kaliningrad region.

The veterinary inspectors spent two days at the "Khrabrovo" airport where they saw three cases of attempts to take meat and fat with no accompanying veterinary documents or permission on a flight between Kiev and Kaliningrad.

As a result, over 10 kg of meat products of questionable safety were disposed of by incineration.

Measures to prevent the spread of ASF is now being strengthened.
