One New ASF Outbreak Reported in Krasnodar

RUSSIA - Another village pig herd in Krasnodar has been culled following an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF).

The veterinary authority in Russia has sent Follow Up Report No. 94 dated 7 September to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

According to the report, the outbreak started in 1 August in the village of Novonickolayevskaya in the region of Krasnodar Kray.

Of the 3,362 pigs involved, 67 showed symptoms and 18 died; the surviving 3,344 were destroyed.

This is the 234th reported ASF outbreak since the disease recurred in 2009.
