AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND - PigLink, a regular, free Pork CRC supported series of informative and convenient e-seminars, offers Australian and New Zealand pork producers convenient bi-monthly access to an educational opportunity, without losing productive work time or travel time or having off-farm biosecurity concerns.
Authoritative featured speakers in the 2013 e-seminar PigLink series include:
- 23 April: Dr Trish Holyoake, DPI Victoria, ‘Minimising stillbirths & pre-weaning piglet losses’.
- 26 June: Stephan Wiedemann, FSA Consulting, ‘Practical ways to reduce carbon output from piggeries’.
- 28 August: Dr Pat Mitchell, Pork CRC/APL, ‘Group housing of dry sows’.
- 29 October: Professor Paul Hughes, SARDI, ‘Maximising litter size at birth’.
- 11 December: Dr Rebecca Morrison, Rivalea Australia, ‘Practical alternatives to the conventional farrowing crate’.
Here’s how the program works:
At least one week before the scheduled session, participants can download the presentation from the website, after they receive a reminder by email.
On, or before, the day of the scheduled session, participants view the presentation, preferably with all piggery staff.
On the day of the scheduled session, participants call a toll-free number to participate in the 30-45 minute Q&A session that follows viewing of the presentation. This will be at 12.30pm SA time. The toll-free number will be provided in the reminder email.
During the five days following each scheduled session, participants can continue to ask the speaker questions via e-mail to Paul Hughes at email@example.com.
Telephone and email questions and answers will be displayed on the website for users within a fortnight of scheduled date for each session. Archival Q&A’s also available.
Pork CRC CEO, Dr Roger Campbell, said that owners, managers, piggery staff and technical services providers involved in the daily management and care of pigs should enrol to access experts in all fields of pork production, plus share in their insights and ask questions of them, all from the comfort of their own homes, offices or piggeries.
For help, or further details, contact Professor Paul Hughes or Tel 08 8303 7603.
