ESPHM: European Pig Health Meeting Opens in Edinburgh, New Book Launched

22 May 2013

SCOTLAND - The European Symposium on Porcine Health Management (ESPHM) opens today in Edinburgh, with strong attendance from around 1,000 delegates from across Europe and further afield. Senior Editor, Jackie Linden, reports.

This is the fifth conference in the ESPHM series. Scotland's capital was chosen as the location as the Symposium also marks the 50th anniversary meeting of the Pig Veterinary Society of Great Britain.

Early this afternoon, the Welcome Address will be given by Mark White, ESPHM 2013 Chairman, followed by keynote addresses from Stewart Houston on the UK pig industry and Dr Joaquim Ségales, who will discuss emerging clinical threats.

ESPHM continues in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre until Friday (24 May) with a strong programme of keynote addresses and oral presentations as well as an exhibition area.

Delegates can also find a stand in the registration hall - to the left of the registration desks - where they can find out more about the new edition of Managing Pig Health: a Reference for the Farm. This book provides a comprehensive reference guide with an emphasis on health, on the premise that managing health is the best way to prevent and tackle pig disease effectively. Visit the stand to find out more about the special price pre-publication offer!

If you are not attending ESPHM, you can also benefit from the special offer and find out more about the book by visiting the web site,
