According to The Star Online, the traders said it first started with one or two pigs going missing from the market or processing plants.

However, they now claim that the thieves are hijacking lorries ferrying the pigs to the market.

One of them, Chzong Wai Chuen said he had just loaded the pigs into his lorry from Shah Alam and was heading to the Meru market when a group of parang-wielding men stopped his truck at 4am.

"They took my belongings, my worker’s passport and drove my lorry off with the pigs," the 54-year-old trader said.

The lorry, he said, was later found near Sungai Rasau with only two pigs in it.

Showing a copy of the police report on the incident, Chzong alleged there were also other times where pigs were stolen from him.

"I did not lodge a police report earlier as the losses was not much.

"But after speaking to my fellow pork traders, we found that there’s a syndicate involved in all these activities," he told reporters.

One pig is sold for about RM1,000.

Another trader Ang Kian Joo, 53, also claimed he was robbed of pigs in the early morning of 27 June.

"The robbers brought parang and threaten to hurt me.

"They then hijacked my lorry with the pigs inside," he said, adding that the robbery took place as he was unloading his pigs at the Meru market.

Pork Traders association deputy president Tan Ting Kwong urged traders to lodge police report on the matter.
