Ban on Exports of Lithuanian Pigs Lifted

30 August 2013

LITHUANIA - The ban on breeding pigs from Lithuania has been lifted by the Russian veterinary authorities.

Rosselkhoznador had placed a ban on the import of pigs from Lithuania because of concerns over an outbreak of Classical Swine Fever.

However, the veterinary authority said that the situation had now stabilised and the market could open again.

However, the ban on slaughtered pigs and fattening pigs remains in place.
