Improvements to Real Welfare Scheme to be Discussed28 October 2013
UK - A series of meetings begins this week to start examining some elements of Real Welfare following feedback from those using it.
The main issues to be discussed are:
- the value of the data collected on minor tail lesions and body marks
- a re-design of the environmental enrichment measure
- sampling procedures.
Those attending the meeting have been invited from across the industry including vets and producers.
BPEX Research Project Manager, Katja Stoddart, said: “All sectors involved are represented. We have captured all the points that have been raised and this meeting will start the process of addressing them.
“Once we have come to some conclusions, they will all be presented to the industry at a series of roadshows in the New Year.
