Pork Production Records Increase in Domestic Demand

22 November 2013

PARAGUAY - According to data provided by Paraguay's Official Animal Health and Quality Service (SENACSA), so far this year, pork exports registered a volume of 1967 tons which is valued at $5,600,000.

Paraguay's main destination for pork is Russia, but entrepreneurs are looking to expand exports to Brazilian and African markets.

Additionally, SENACSA and the private sector have joined forces to implement a national health plan, the goal being to certify the country as free of classical swine fever - a certificate awarded by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

Dr Luis Goiburú, Deputy Minister of SENACSA, stressed that the goal is to export pork to the most demanding markets.
