Kaluga Pig Unit Officially Opened31 December 2013
RUSSIA - Pig company, KFH Harchevnikov, in the Ulyanovsk region of Kaluga has opened the second stage of its new pig-breeding complex.
KFH Harchevnikov is one of the most successful producers of pork in the Kaluga region and the new development is part of the national project for the development of agriculture.
Since the start of the project, the company has received eight investment loans amounting to 98.44 million rubles (RUB).
Aimed at modernising agricultural production and increasing the volume of agricultural production, there has also been investment from private equity funds of RUB135 million, including RUB32 million over the last year.
Construction of a modern pig pork production complex at the Harchevnikov farm began in 2007, after the acquisition of property by investors in the property of the bankrupt company SEC Ulyanovsk. The new pig unit has installed equipment from the German company, Big Dutchman, and has imported breeding stock from specialist breeding farms.
The main activity of the farm is breeding and fattening pigs. The second stage of the pig farm was officially opened last week with an expected capacity of 8,000 pigs. The complex when fully complete will have a capacity of 16,000 pigs.
The complex has its own slaughterhouse and feed mill.
