Update on PED in Canada: 66 Confirmed Cases

19 June 2014

CANADA - There have been four confirmed cases of porcine epidemic diarrhoea (PED) in pigs in the country in June, all of them in Ontario.

On its newly updated PED web site, Manitoba Pork Council reports no new outbreaks of PED so far in June. The last case - the province's second - was on 21 May.

Ontario has reported four new cases since 1 June - two farrow-to-finish farms in Middlesex county and in Huron county, on two finisher units. These bring the total confirmed cases in Ontario to 62.

Quebec and Prince Edward Island have reported just one case each since January 2014.
