PED-Positive Farm Samples in US: 7,447

01 July 2014

US - The total number of pig farm samples that have tested positive for the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhoea (PED) virus now stands at 7,447 in 30 states, writes Jackie Linden.

The National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) reports reports 98 positive accessions out of 795 tested at 11 veterinary diagnostic labs for the week ending 21 June 2014, according to the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV).

Last week's report incorrectly identified Arkansas as the latest state to report an initial case of PEDv. NAHLN has corrected that report this week. The number of states reported to the NAHLN as having at least one confirmed case of PED reverts back to 30.
