Although the PED epidemic has slowed down, United Daily News reports but there has been a recurrence in one case in the Mailiao region of Yunlin county in western Taiwan.

The authority for animal and plant health has warned that the changing season, with a larger temperature difference between day and night, increases the importance of insulation of farrowing buildings, regular disinfection and control of people and vehicles and other biosecurity measures.

The authority's director for Yunlin county stressed that, where there are unexplained deaths on pig farms, they must be reported to local animal epidemic prevention agencies in order to facilitate immediate assistance and stop the spread of infection.

Failure to inform the authorities epidemic could lead to a minimum fine of 10,000 yuan, up to more than 50,000 yuan.
