US - Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PED) has caused a shock to both the agricultural marketplace and consumers’ bottom line. While the virus has caused a number of problems internationally, it wasn’t until April 2013 that PED was first discovered in the United States. Now, one year later, we see the virus continuing to spread rampantly and new variant strains isolated, impacting 30 states and rapidly spilling across North American borders, writes Joel Harris.
