Miyazaki PED Farm Count Rises to 10

JAPAN - A 10th outbreak of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhoea (PED) virus has been confirmed in the prefecture of Miyazaki.

According to information published on 26 December, Miyazaki Prefecture has recorded its 10th outbreak of PED with the addition of a new occurrence in Aya Kitamata. Previous cases have been confirmed in the prefecture in the districts of Nichinan (five), Miyakonojo (three) and Aya (one).

Prefecture officials have called on pig farmers to ensure proper vehicle disinfection at farm entry and exit and disinfection at entry and exit of each pig house (including an exchange of work clothes, boots etc) to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
