Nine Countries Granted Disease Free Status to Various Pig Diseases

GLOBAL - Nine countries have received official recognition of their Classical Swine Fever or Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) free status during the 84th World Health Assembly General Session of Delegates of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) in Paris.

The Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Italy, New Caledonia, New Zealand and Poland were all recognised as countries being free from Classical Swine Fever (CSF).

Fourteen zones in Brazil were also confirmed as being CSF free.

One new zone in Russia was officially recognised as being free from Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) without vaccination.

In addition, the World Assembly of Delegates endorsed the national control programmes for FMD submitted by Thailand, Mongolia and Kazakhstan.
