FRANCE - A recent survey shows 60-70 per cent of farms in Brittany, France, test positive for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRS).

As Brittany is the main pig producing area of France, regular monitoring of herd health is taking place. This includes oral fluid sampling and PCR testing.

To prevent the circulation of PRRS, scheduled vaccination took place. This also helped to improve reproductive and post weaning performance.
