Boost for French pork exports to China

14 December 2017

French Finance Minister, Bruno Le Maire, revealed that more French pork will be exported to China in the near future.

Speaking in Beijing, the Minister announced that Chinese audits of French pork production facilities, undertaken in 2015, will be published soon, and in the event that the audits reveal particularly positive findings, China could be importing more French pork very soon.

With China being the largest importer of pork – 1.5 million tonnes in 2016 – the potential for large growth for trading partners is great. This year, production facilities in England and Northern Ireland have secured new export deals with China which could be worth as much as £200 million to the British economy.

These trade deals could also provide thousands of jobs within the regions involved in trade with China.
