IRELAND - Waterford farmers will get more grant aid to help manage waste on their land if the European Commission accepts an outline plan drawn up by the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan TD.Fianna Fáil TD Ollie Wilkinson , who is a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture and Food, said the revised Farm Waste Management Scheme is specifically intended to help farmers meet new requirements under the Nitrates Directive.
“Minister Coughlan wants to increase the current main Waste Management grant rate from 40pc to 60pc for approved works — giving farmers a major funding boost to keep their land environmentally sound.
