EAVLD and the Italian Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (SIDiLV) are hosting the 3rd EAVLD Congress on veterinary diagnostics.

Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, the Iowa Pork Industry Center, The Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV), District 6, are sponsoring the 22nd Annual Swine Disease Conference.
The programme is designed to answer daily concerns of swine practitioners. The conference focuses on emerging swine pathogens and their control, and improvements in diagnostics and risk-based controls useful for on-farm health plan development. Special emphasis is on information necessary to formulate management plans for disease control, biosecurity and food safety enhancement.
This year the emphasis is on porcine epidemic diarrhoea (PED) and the new challenges for swine veterinarians in better diagnosing and controlling this new disease that has had tremendous impact to the US swine industry.

The conference begins on Friday 5 December, from 1:00 to 5:00PM, with a poster session and reception to follow. The poster session includes mini-talks on selected abstracts. The conference continues with an all-day session on Saturday 6 December.
Topics include disease control in the field, vaccines, pathogenesis, diagnostics, epidemiology and the role of host genetics in disease resistance. A number of talks will be devoted to the latest developments on PED.
Abstracts are requested for PRRS, PED and PCVAD; abstract submission and registration information will be available soon.

The 2014 Conference for Research Workers in Animal Diseases (CRWAD) will begin with the Researchers Reception on Sunday evening. The first poster session will coincide with the Researchers Reception. Presentations will conclude by 1 pm Tuesday afternoon, 9 December.
