Medicinal Control of Disease

Prevention
(68) Specific details of this are discussed elsewhere under the relevant diseases. Diseases can be prevented or controlled effectively if treatment is applied during the incubation period, that is the period from the time of exposure to the organism to the onset of clinical disease. This is sometimes called prophylactic (i.e. preventative) or strategic medication. This medication must be given at the correct time which is determined by the pattern of the disease on the farm and by trial and error.
