The first pigs delivered in November created so much interest from the island's pig producers, that several further orders have now been placed, with the next shipment due this month.
Under the agreement, LA Top Genetics becomes a distributor for JSR Genetics to supply the island's 50,000-strong sow market. They will market JSR Titan terminal boars, which produce strong, healthy pigs with good meat yields, particularly in the high value cuts.
JSR Genepacker Gold X parent gilts, renowned for their prolificacy and ease of management, were selected for their ability to adapt to a range of climatic conditions, including the hot summers on the island.
The second new contract is with Greek company F-One Hellas who began trading with the former Newsham Hybrid Pigs in 1991. JSR Genetics will supply F-One Hellas with the very latest genetic lines to enhance meat quality, in addition to the established benefits of prolificacy, mothering ability and robustness.
Genetics Sales Director Peter Shelton said, "These two contracts underpin our continuing growth in the Mediterranean market, where the very best in meat eating quality, flavour and succulence is demanded by processors and consumers alike"
