Print This Page South Korean Pork Imports Fall
SOUTH KOREA - South Korea’s imports of beef and chicken gained in the first half of the year while its pork imports declined, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry said Tuesday.It said the country brought in a total of 77,735 tons of beef on a quarantine-cleared basis, up 7.2 percent from a year ago. Australian beef accounted for the majority with 54,235 tons, followed by beef from New Zealand and Mexico, Yonhap News Agency reported.
In contrast, imports of pork fell 2.3 percent to 103,533 tons. The U.S. was the largest provider of the imports with 34,459 tons, followed by Canada and Belgium, Yonhap reported.
