Market analysis

The price difference between domestic cross-breed lean hogs and foreign cross-breed lean hogs has narrowed in regions such as Hunan and Hebei. Waxed meat production has kicked off across many villages, bolstering local demand for domestic cross-breed lean hogs by small-scale slaughterhouses and hence driving up domestic cross-breed lean hog prices.

Market forecast

With continued tightness seen in near-term supply and currently strong pork demand, hog prices should register further gains in the week ahead.
