TOPIGS Nederland: semen sales plus 6.5%

NETHERLANDS - In 2006 TOPIGS Nederland sold 3.38 million doses of semen, 6.5% more than in 2005. Over the past 4 years, sales have increased by 14% and TOPIGS market share on the Dutch semen market has risen from 80% to 85%.
The Tempo finisher boar is the most used boar in the Netherlands. In 2006 almost half (47%) of all TOPIGS fatteners had this boar as a father.
Second in line is the stress-free Pietrain boar (Top Pi) with a share of 24%. Third is the D-line with 18%. These three lines have a combined market share of almost 90%.
