The Chef and Brewer chain is one of the first food service companies to introduce menu transparency and has also adopted the British Pig Executive (BPEX) Quality Standard Mark for its pork. The company has more than 150 outlets in the UK and all have adopted menu transparency and the QSM.
BPEX Foodservice Trade Sector Manager Tony Goodger said: “We've been tracing Cheff and Brewers' supply chain and seeing where new links needed to be forged in the supply chain to qualify for the QSM.
“They are very committed to it and it enables consumers to see where their food comes from as well as being able to make an informed choice.
“Many people believe what they are eating is British produce when it is in fact imported. This move will cut through the misunderstandings.
C&B's Head of Food Paul Farr said: “It is key for both ourselves and our customers that what we are serving is top quality and what better way than using Quality Standard Mark pork.”
