Print This Page One scoop or two - how dense is your feed?
UK - Ever thought about the density of your pig feed? It is something you should consider says ACMC Vet Paul Thompson of Garth Partnership, a dedicated Pig Heath and Veterinary Consultancy.
The density of diets can vary, so feeding by volume does not always ensure that the pigs receive the right weight of food.
When feeding sows it is important to check periodically that feeders are delivering the weights of feed expected. This is particularly the case after any change of feed supplier.
One scoop of one diet may weigh more that that of a different diet!
