SINGAPORE: The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) has confirmed it has banned meat imports from the United Kingdom with immediate effect. The move follows an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease on a farm near London and covers pork, mutton and beef.
This follows similar moves by the European Union while the US and Japan has also added British pork imports to their existing bans on British beef.
Some 60 cattle on the UK farm had tested positive for the disease, and a 3-kilometre protection zone had been placed around the premises.
