Print This Page Smuggled pork seized at Lok Ma Chau
HONG KONG - The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department has seized 200kg of pork of dubious origin in a joint operation with the Customs & Excise Department at Lok Ma Chau.Officers intercepted a car at the checkpoint at 9am yesterday and found the pork inside eight plastic bags without health certificates. Two men are being questioned.
The department is monitoring the situation closely and is taking stringent enforcement action against illegal meat imports to safeguard food safety and public health. The public are being asked to report any suspected illegal meat imports.
