Print This Page Call for a pig price rise
FRANCE - The French national pig producers’ body, INAPORC, is calling for a 25 per cent increase in producer prices to be passed down the supply chain to the consumer.According to the MLC’s European market survey, INAPORC argues that in order to cover rising feed costs, sustainable farm-gate prices need to be around €1.57 per kg dw, rather than the current price of €1.25 per kg.
In August the feed cost is said to have accounted for 66 per cent of French costs of pig production. The delivered feed barley price was almost €261 per tonne, at September 6, up €38 on the week and more than double the price a year ago.
