Print This Page Summer export business thrives for TOPIGS
EUROPE - Market difficulties have not halted TOPIGS export business. The company widened its activities in Romania and Brazil during the summer months.TOPIGS breeder Thessalia Farm in Trikala, Greece, exported 40 SPF gilts to Romania. The export was a colloborative venture between TOPIGS Hellas and Fatrom, the company's Romanian agent.
The Thessalia unit is one of TOPIGS breeding farms in Europe and has the highest health status.
Also, during August, 80 SPF pigs were transported from the Netherlands to Brazil. This shipment included several TOPIGS lines of the highest genetic quality. The animals were born by caesarean section and raised at the special SPF unit at the CDI Institute in Lelystad. This affords them the highest possible SPF standard.
Both gilts and boars were transported to Brazil to introduce new lines to the genetic base and help improve existing populations.
