Print This Page The growing threat of disease in Europe
EU - EU officials are continuing to face disease threats to European agriculture on a number of fronts.Apart from the continuing bluetongue disease problem in northern Europe, Ireland last week confirmed its first outbreak of the highly infectious and potentially damaging brown rot disease in potatoes. This is highly infectious and can spread easily.
And in addition to the growing threat of African Swine Fever, the Turkish government has also confirmed an outbreak of anthrax, affecting livestock close to its northern border.
