"This is a crisis and urgent measures have to be taken: we think 10 000 pigs will have to be culled and incinerated in the coming days," Agriculture Minister Arvin Boolell told reporters.

Positive results for African swine fever, a viral disease affecting pigs, returned to the island on Wednesday after samples were sent to South Africa last week when farmers reported unexplained deaths among their livestock.
